Netflix has cancelled Shadow and Bone as well as the un-produced Six of Crows. Seen as being a consequence of delays concomitant with the writers’ and actors’ strikes, I have to admit to not being surprised. I’ve long since suspected no news was bad news for the series.
Speaking personally I felt the series was uneven and rushed to cover ground in season 2. The gang who would feature in Six of Crows often felt more interesting and I would have tried a season of that, had it arrived. In the end its about audience and reaction. On the topic of reaction, author Leigh Barugo commented on Instagram (reported by Deadline) and managed to be diplomatic, despite the disappointment.
This is one of the (first set of?) cancellations coming to light including Farzar, Glamorous and Agent Elvis. The always edifying Cancelled sci-fi was also not taken aback by the cancellation and covers it in depth here.
