Beyond Paradise series 2

Beyond Paradise series 2 — some thoughts

Let me start with an empty statement — Beyond Paradise series 2 was “better” than series 1. As I’ve said elsewhere, that’s pretty meaningless and at best subjective. That all needs qualifying, so carry on reading and I’ll explain what I liked. Familiarity didn’t breed contempt We know the characters from series 1 (and Christmas), but as part of putting them another series of crimes … Continue reading Beyond Paradise series 2 — some thoughts

BBC confirms renewal of Beyond Paradise and Christmas special

The BBC has confirmed the renewal of Beyond Paradise as well as another Christmas special. I’d found compelling evidence of this a couple of days back, but nice to see it in writing. I thought ratings would be enough, but still would like to see more episodes in series 3. I’ll pull some thoughts together soon(-ish) but have to say I felt the writing in … Continue reading BBC confirms renewal of Beyond Paradise and Christmas special

Beyond Paradise

Beyond Paradise series 3 is happening!

With no word from the BBC, and a concern from fans Beyond Paradise might end with Humphrey and Martha’ wedding, I did a bit of digging. The audience figures are strong, so there’s every reason to renew. I know fully expect the show to be back in 2025, and probably Christmas. Here’s why… Series 3 of Beyond Paradise is in pre-production! According to the March … Continue reading Beyond Paradise series 3 is happening!

Beyond Paradise Humphrey and Martha

Beyond Paradise — who might turn up for the wedding?

This Friday (26 April 2024) sees the final episode of Beyond Paradise series 2. Last time round the end of series was followed with confirmation of a second series. Will we see the same again, or is this the end of the road, given Humphrey and Martha end up (I assume) married? Talking of weddings, who might turn up from St Marie? Last week we … Continue reading Beyond Paradise — who might turn up for the wedding?

The Paraverse

What next for The Paraverse?

As part of the recent publicity for new series Return to Paradise, we learn Robert Thorogood’s franchise is now using the name paraverse. This led me to wonder — what next for the current portfolio and future spin-offs? Before I ramble too far, I try to capture the essence of the various series as a guide. What makes a paraverse show? I think we can stick … Continue reading What next for The Paraverse?

Beyond Paradise series 2 — impressed so far

While I prefer the scenery in Death in Paradise, I’m more than happy to while away an evening in Devon with Kris Marshall’s DI Humphrey Goodman. I expected to broadly enjoy series 2, but have been surprised at just how strong some of it has been. I wonder if it’s the show finding its own voice away from the parent, different writers / directors or … Continue reading Beyond Paradise series 2 — impressed so far

Beyond Paradise series 2 — date and first look pictures

We’ve now got the date of Friday 22 March at 8 pm for series 2 of Beyond Paradise, as well as some first look pictures. The link even lists the bumper set of guests coming our way. As predicted, this is within March, and just overlaps with the finale of Death in Paradise (Sunday the 24th). I predicted a week later, assuming they’d not overlap. … Continue reading Beyond Paradise series 2 — date and first look pictures

Beyond Paradise — Shipton Abbot

Beyond Paradise should still air in March

The BBC is playing its cards close to its chest with regards series 2 of Beyond Paradise, but now (finally) we are getting series 13 of Death in Paradise tonight, so it’s reasonable to wonder when the spin-off will arrive. My best guess is March 31 — I’ll explain why… When is Death in Paradise series 13 ending? Checking the EPG, next week’s 100th episode is … Continue reading Beyond Paradise should still air in March

Six returning shows for 2024

Six returning shows I’ll watch in 2024

New Years Day. The time to look forward, and here’s my list of six returning shows I will definitely watch in 2024. Surprisingly, despite my core interest in science fiction / genre / cult, it’s mostly feel good TV with little in the way of the supernatural, alien or temporally anomalous. Three feel good shows from the BBC It’s the same three shows every year … Continue reading Six returning shows I’ll watch in 2024
