Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to UK cinemas a day early

I’ve not seen any of the modern generation of Planet of the Apes films, though rate Charlton Heston’s original as true classic. I also enjoyed Pierre Boulle’s original novel and today learned he also wrote The Bridge Over the River Kwai.

That all said, the latest film, The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to the UK on May 9 (the poster says otherwise, I have no idea why we are first. If you want the plot details, here’s the studio’s summary:

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike

Here’s a trailer as well:

The film stars Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, William H. Macy. Allan took me a moment to recognise without her Ciri blonde hair she sports in The Witcher. The UK date was confirmed by Disney at a special press screening at London’s iMax.
