Lockwood & Co season 2 — yes or no?

I’m six episodes through Lockwood & Co season 1 and thoroughly enjoying it. On the strength of this, I would love to see the show get a season 2. Will it? How soon can we make a prediction?

Early indicators

Apart from looking out for general ‘noise’ on the show, I will check Rotten Tomatoes from time to time. It’s way too early (and small numbers bring their own problems) but today I see 100% critics and 98% audience. No idea how few reviews that is, but a good early stop.

On Tuesday Netflix puts out their weekly audience (we get it for the morning Wednesday). Last week’s data shows:

Netflix Top 10 TV (English) 16-22 January, 2023
Netflix Top 10 TV (English) 16-22 January, 2023

I’d be pleased to see the show make top 3 and/or get over 50 million hours viewed. It’s a challenge for a new show.

Week 2 (ie February 7) will bring the chance to test the Rule of 100M. I’ll look out for that.

What else do we know about Lockwood & Co season 2?

As I said in my release day piece for Cultbox, there are plenty more stories from Jonathan Stroud, and with lead Ruby Stokes recast for Bridgerton season 2 (she was Francesca in season 1), but I also noted a thought on dates. We had season 2 of Bridgerton some time ago. How long has Lockwood & Co been waiting around?

I did some digging. It finished filming (according to wikipedia) March 15, 2022. There will have been post-production, but I suspect it’s been on the blocks at least three months, probably more. I also found it started filming early July 2021; my reckoning suggest we’d possibly get a renewal in March (optimistic?), no idea how much adaptation is to be done, but filming may well not commence until summer, suggesting a January 2025 release. I will pay attention to what actually happens!

Let me know if you’d like a season 2 in the comments, or if not, why not.
